US Cellular is one of the bigger cell phone carriers that serves 26 states in the US and is expanding. They’ve also started to branch into pre-paid US cellular cell phones with the launch of their talk tracker service. US cellular prepaid supports most of the modern features that come with current cell phone technology and you can also activate supported cell phone models that they may not sell themselves, many people appreciate the fact that they don’t have to buy US cellular phones to use their service. The only thing to keep in mind however, is the fact they are a regional provider so they don’t have the kind of coverage that a company like Verizon wireless would have.

US cellular prepaid plans comes in two basic forms, one is a monthly plan and the other is more of a pay-as-you-go type plan. All of the US cellular plans that are monthly include free incoming calls as part of their package, they also give you free talking minutes after 9 PM as well. there $45 cell phone plan also comes with 350 anytime talking minutes, and if you happen to go into overage time, charges each minute ends up being about $.15 each.

They also have $60 and $80 plans as well, the $60 plan gives you 600 minutes of talk time plus unlimited minutes on the weekends, the overage charges per minute for this particular plan are about $.10 each. The $80 plan comes with a very generous 1000 minutes of talking time plus a limited time during weekends as well with overage charges the same as the $60 plan.

If you decide to go with one of their pay-as-you-go options, the first choice has a monthly access charge of about six dollars and will run you about $.15 per minute. Their second choice has a monthly access charge of $10 and will cost you $.10 per talking minute. You can access their customer service without using any of your minutes either through e-mail or by calling their toll-free customer service phone number.

You can usually refill the minutes on your account at US cellular retail store which requires a five dollar minimum refill. You can automatically refill your phone’s minutes by calling the customer service number and using a credit or debit card, Western Union stores are another option as well. US cellular prepaid phones also support text and picture messaging as well, with texting messages that are in coming being free for both monthly and pay-as-you-go plans. You can either go if a text messaging package ranging from $4.95 all away up to $14.95 for unlimited messaging, or you can pay $.25 per message à la carte.

Keep in mind that calls that are made from outside of your service plan area will be charged at $.69 per minute, so be mindful of where you’re going to be using the phone. They support most of the standard calling features such as voicemail, three way calling, caller ID functionality, and call waiting on all their prepaid plans. There fee for activating the phone is $30 which is a one time fee, and this fee is included in their starter packages should you decide to go with that option with prices that vary depending on the area you’re in.
