4G Phones
4G phones have become the new standard for modern wireless and cellular phone technology, the 4G network is the fourth-generation standard for wireless communications. While as of this writing, it’s still in development, many of the major wireless networks across the US and Europe are implementing their 4G networks rapidly in major cities and locations. The goal of the 4G network is to allow 4G capable phones to access a much more efficient and higher broadband data network allowing for much faster speeds than seen in the previous generation. With the advent of this network, all the major cell phone manufacturers and service providers are creating their 4G network phones for both business and consumer use, and will soon become the standard.
Current 4G wireless phones like Sprint’s Exclusive HTC Evo 4G phone which is based on the android platform and is being sold new for a modest 200$ with a contract, as well as upcoming 4G phones alike will take advantage of this new data and network protocol to allow for high-definition streaming, advanced computing and media features as well as many other functions that have been more at home on a traditional computer like a laptop for example. Apple also has their own fourth-generation iPhone as well known as the iPhone 4G which will work on AT&T’s expanding 4G network.
One thing to keep in mind is that if you don’t live in one of the major cities that have WiMax which is a faster equivalent of WiFi networks, you’ll still likely have to pay an extra $10 a month for 4G service for any 4G mobile phones. For Sprint, this would bring your monthly total cost to about $80 per month, but that should go down over time. The benefit to this however, is the fact that Sprint’s plan includes unlimited data, texting, and calling to any United States number. And for the other major networks and service providers like AT&T and Verizon, you won’t have to pay an additional five dollars more for one of their basic smartphone plans.
The implementation of the 3G network which was standardized in the late 1990s took nearly an entire decade to implement, however 4G networks have been planned, and are being rolled out in a much more timely fashion so investing in 4G cell phones would be a sound decision. Sprint currently offers a hybrid 3G/4G connection plan that is currently available in most major cities and is being expanded to other areas, it currently delivers rates up to 10 Mbit/s. Verizon is also rolling out their 4G network in partnership with Vodafone. In the UK, who 02 is also rolling out their 4G network as well.
